The Homan Family 2008 Meneset which means "Healing Waters" is a well established community. It was founded by the same family who still operate it Keith, Jo-Anne, Scott and Kathy Homan. It is the aim of the family that as Keith and Jo-Anne get closer to retirement Scott and Kathy, the younger generation, will take more and more responsibility and eventually take full control of the operation with Keith and Jo-Anne in an advisory position.

The Homan family have always taken a hands on approach with Keith originally putting in all the original services. Keith and Scott have maintained and upgraded all the present services. Meanwhile, Jo-Anne and Kathy have been active as the salespersons selling both new and resale homes in the community as well as handling the secretarial duties.

Steeped in history, Meneset is located along the north bank of the Maitland River which the Chippewa used to call the Mennesetung River. Hence the name Meneset was used for the community. The Indians only used the area briefly for a summer camp and eventually moved several hundred miles away to establish a permanent site. The decisions of the officers of the Canada Company caused the Town of Goderich to develop on the south bank of the Maitland's mouth.

The settlement of the north bank has a different, but equally interesting history. A Belgian noble, Baron de Tuyle had Col. Bayfield survey the eastern Lake Huron shoreline to discover the finest situation for an estate. One of the sites chosen was the north shore of the Maitland River, high on the bluffs overlooking the River's mouth. Here, in the year 1830, on the site of great scenic beauty, Baron de Tuyle had a single storey home of rough cast-on-log, built. This is still the location of the home of Keith and Jo-Anne Homan and adjacent to it is Meneset On The Lake. Situated in one of the finest locations on Lake Huron.
